Before you set sail

The details that
make the difference.

A great cruise starts with more than a destination. These are the choices we’ll work through together.

Choose the ship.

A cruise line’s ships can feel very different. Compare size, dining, kids’ spaces, entertainment and quiet corners before you commit.

Choose your pace.

Port after port, or room for a lazy sea day? Look at time ashore and transport to the places you actually want to visit.

Choose your cabin.

Interior, oceanview, balcony or suite. Consider layout, location, connecting rooms and whether an upgrade is worth it for your trip.

Compare the total.

Drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities, specialty dining and excursions can change the budget. We’ll compare the complete fare and package terms.

Let the destination guide the dates

A season for every horizon.

Caribbean & Bahamas

Consider winter and spring for an island escape. Summer works well around school breaks, but brings heat and storm-season considerations. Compare the dates and cancellation terms together.

Alaska

Start with the warmer-month sailing season. Compare glacier routes, daylight and the experiences you care about. Early and late season can feel very different from midsummer.

Mediterranean

Consider spring or fall if sightseeing is the priority. Summer brings long days and school-holiday options, with heat and busy ports to factor into the plan.

These are planning suggestions; weather and operating seasons vary. Browse the official destination guides linked in the collection, then ask Nick to compare specific dates.

Plan with Gone South Travel

A real person.
A better-fitting voyage.

I’m Nick. My job is to help you sort through the ships, fare types and fine print so the trip fits your people and your priorities.

Start with what matters.

Who’s coming, when you can travel, and how you want the trip to feel. We’ll choose the experience before chasing a headline fare.

Make the details work together.

Cabin location, dining choices, pre-cruise hotels and ground transfers all deserve a place in the plan. Flights are booked separately.

Know what you’re booking.

I’ll explain the options, confirm eligible benefits and review important payment and cancellation dates with you.

A few good questions

Before you ask.

Can you help me choose my first cruise?

Yes. Start with the Cruise Finder or tell me your dates, who’s coming and what you enjoy. I’ll help compare suitable lines, ships and itineraries.

Are meals and drinks included?

It depends on the line and fare. Many cruises include selected dining, while drinks, specialty restaurants and other extras may cost more. We’ll confirm the exact inclusions before you book.

Should I arrive the day before?

For travelers flying to the port, I generally recommend considering a pre-cruise night to create a buffer. We can plan the hotel and ground transfer around your independently booked flights.

Can we cruise with kids or a larger group?

Yes. Ages, cabin occupancy and connecting-room availability matter. Share the full group details early so we can compare arrangements that work for everyone.

Can I book an adults-only cruise?

Virgin Voyages and Viking ocean cruises welcome guests 18 and older. Other lines may have adult-only areas while still welcoming children elsewhere on the ship.

What happens after I send my shortlist?

Your email starts the conversation. I’ll review your preferences and dates, explain any planning fees, and help narrow the ideas to specific sailings. Saving an idea does not hold a cabin or make a reservation.

The horizon is calling

Let’s find your
next departure.

Have a sailing in mind? Still deciding between ships? Tell me what a great cruise looks like to you.
